Ben Proffitt, 2011 Tiree Wave Classic Champion

Here’s Dave White’s first batch of pictures from the last day of the 25th Anniversary Tiree Wave Classic, as Ben Proffitt overcame John Skye in the triple elimination to claim the pro title, Phil Horrocks finished third. Aleksy Gayda won the amateurs, followed by Lewis Merrony in second and Scotty McDowell third. Mark Lloyd was first master ahead of Davey Edmundson and Keith Shorrocks, Debbie Kennedy took the women’s from Sophia Gilje and Kariina Pirhonen, while Tom Bennett-Lloyd beat Torin and Taylor to the youth prize. On 2nd September at Crouchers Hotel, between 6 and 8pm, top World Cup windsurfer John Skye and coaching guru Jem Hall will present the brand new Version 4 (2011) RRD Quad and single fin waveboards.

2XS will have the first public preview of the Hardcore Quad, Wavecult Quad and Hardcore single fin waveboards.

John Skye, who has been developing the boards with Roberto Ricci in Hawaii and South Africa will be on hand to discuss the performance of the boards. Jem, who will just have returned from Baja, Mexico, will have the latest information on the new Wavecult Quad.

New into the UK this season, RRD sails from those fine Italian purveyors of windsurfing kit are beginning to turn heads. Not least as John Skye has signed onto 100% RRD kit. These second generation WaveVogues certainly look the part – although quite why they opted for brown against black on this press release remains a mystery…
