Learning to windsurf with Seafarer

Seafarer’s signature small and friendly Beach Clubs in Greece and Turkey adhere to the ‘small is beautiful principal’ with smaller clubs in idyllic beach front locations accommodating just  40-50 guests, ensuring a really friendly atmosphere and a more personal service from their experienced instructor team.

Each club has a pool, a family run taverna and bar and comfortable air conditioned en suite rooms with en suite facilities, many with Sea views.

Taking their RYA training centre at Nikiana on Lefkas, Seafarer’s beach front sailing club is aimed mainly at beginner windsurfers, with a good range of starboard  beginner and intermediate  boards from 121 – 155 litre with  an excellent choice of rigs (mostly Tushingham kit).

The main focus however is on dinghy and catamaran saili]ng with a really good range of craft from beginner to advanced, including Topper Taz, Laser Picos, Laser 1’s , Laser Bahia’s , Laser 2000, Laser 4000 and RS800 as well as dart 16 catamarans.

The RYA qualified instructor team are mostly dual qualified instructors, and many can teach either windsurfing or dinghy sailing giving you the possibility to further your qualifications with either.

For those times that the wind takes a rest, there are Sea Kayaks and paddle boards, as well as the possibility for mountain biking trips.

Seafarer clubs generally also have a yacht based there for sailing trips to neighbouring islands, , sunset cruises and yacht tuition.

A week at Nikiana Beach Club starts at just £499 including flights, accommodation on a BB basis and unlimited use of all the kit each day.

Nikiana Beach Club

This five week course is aimed at those seeking to work in the industry as instructors, or those aiming to instruct regularly at club level and offers comprehensive coverage of all the skills required. This includes advanced sailing skills, safety boat, first aid as well as a range instruction techniques covering a variety of learner needs.

Pre-requisites or the course are RYA level 1 and 2 Dinghy sailing, though those needing to undertake these courses can do so in an additional week. Over 5 weeks the course focuses on  improving sailing techniques in a variety of conditions including advanced seamanship skills, sailing with spinnakers and performance sailing. Power boat handling and rescue boat techniques are also covered whilst the latter part of the course focuses on developing teaching techniques in a range of situations as well as covering the theory behind these practical methods. The final week is focused on assessment.

Course dates in 2013 are May 5th, June 6th and September 6th. The package includes return flights from the UK, transfers to and from Nikiana, as well as all tuition and course materials. The package also includes accommodation on a half board basis (breakfast and lunch) at the club in twin bedded air conditioned rooms with en suite facilities. The comprehensive 5 week package is priced at £2950 per person.

The centre offers an excellent range of dinghies, windsurfers and catamarans as well as sea kayaks and paddle boards, all for guests’ unlimited use. Additions this year are the RS800 as well as more lasers and also paddle boards.

Another addition this year are children’s clubs from around 5 years and up, all included in the price of the holiday.

Nikiana boasts a pool and an excellent family run tavern on site. The club is just a 10 minute drive from Seafarer’s flotilla and yacht charter base at Lefkas marina, offering the possibility of combining a stay with a week either on flotilla or bareboat yacht charter, for that perfect Greek Island Sailing Holiday.
