Arthur Arutkin (FRA-111) joins Fanatic and NorthSails:

“I’m happy to be with Fanatic now. What I´m really looking forward is to train with my new team mates like Victor, Klaas in Windsurf or Olivia and Yoann in SUP in different spots, but also to meet the rest of the Fanatic team and being part of it to promote this fantastic brand. I will work hard this year, but also have a lot of fun on the water!”

NorthSails are happy to welcome Arthur Arutkin to the NorthSails Rookie Team. Brother of PWA youth world champion and NorthSails international team member Alice Arutkin, Arthur has a high potential and outstanding talent in wave riding and slalom alike. Arthur already ended up as European Youth Champion in Slalom (U 15).

“I really would like to be in the Top 3 in the PWA and this year I would like to get the first place In the French Championship and with Fanatic boards I for sure have the right tools for that! I´m glad to be part of the team together with my brother now, we for sure will try our best to promote the brand as good as we can as a package!”

“I’m very excited to be in the Fanatic International Team. I hope I can make women windsurfing more attractive again and will love to promote it all over the world and Fanatic for sure has the right boards for it! Fanatic also has the image to support their riders and I will be happy to be part of this great team. I will do my last year in high school now, but as well competing in the PWA World tour and also doing clinics for kids and girls.

Joining team NorthSails is for me like a dream come true! The people behind it give me the feeling they really care and the chance for me to grow into the team.

Caesar Finies (NB-13) joins NorthSails:

With Caesar we are contracting an outstanding freestyle athlete. Especially well known for his low-wind freestyle Caesar can be named as the inventor of “Flowstyle”. We believe that any talented and committed sportsman – even not competing PWA – may have a considerable impact on our sport. Unlike hardcore freestyle, Caesar’s flowstyle is accessible to any windsurfer and nonetheless incredibly awesome to watch. You will find Caesar in his home on Bonaire and he for sure will be present at windsurfing events around the globe to show off his incredible flowstyle move. Welcome to the team Caesar!

Light, lighter, the lightest!

Back in 2002 this was already the case with the design study VIPER AERO. Back then it showed the limits of feasibility. Weighing in at less than one kilo this mast still holds the world record. Unfortunately, this limited production series was suitable only for flat-water use. With the radical PLATINUM AERO 2013 we introduce a dignified ultra-light successor that is much more advanced than the former design study. By processing the revolutionary, ultra lightweight D4.SHIELD this mast achieves minimum weight combined with unexpected durability. In concrete: laboratory tests prove that 85% of the fractional values of a regular PLATINUM mast are achieved! An absolutely sensational result, which is why the new PLATINUM AERO is not only the lightest, but definitely also most durable mast in its class!

NorthSails: Tell us a bit about your local spot and where you learned to windsurf?

Max Rowe: I learnt to windsurf with my Dad at home in Essex. Our local spot was Mersea Island, it‘s far from ideal with a very long muddy walk at low tide but good fun all the same. I started getting into freestyle when I went to Club Vass, Vassiliki on holiday and met all the guys there.

NorthSails: Why North and where do you see the biggest strengths at your new sail brand?

Max Rowe: North because I wanted the best gear possible! I think North’s biggest strength is having two world champions developing and testing the sails to make sure that they are always at the cutting edge of all the latest developments.

NorthSails: Which disciplines and contests will you focus on for 2011 and why?

Max Rowe: I will focus mainly on the PWA and UK freestyle tours. It has always been my dream to become British champion so continuing to pursue this is really important to me. Doing the PWA tour is such an experience, every competition continues to push my level and hopefully this year I can finish in the top 16. I will also compete at some of the UK wave events to gain some more experience in the wave discipline.

NorthSails: What do you think about the new ICE 2011 and the DUKE 2011?

Max Rowe: I think that they are both amazing sails and I was so impressed with how the North gear all fits together really well. I am using the Ice’s in my smaller sizes and the Duke’s in 5.4 and 5.9 they both feel really well balanced and have helped make my moves more powerful and explosive.

NorthSails: What do you think about the UK scene, is there a lot potential?

Max Rowe: I think there is an awesome scene in the UK there are so many good spots that everywhere I go there seems to be loads of keen windsurfers. There is also a lot of potential in the freestyle scene at the moment with loads of young kids getting into the sport.

NorthSails: What are your goals for the upcoming season?

Max Rowe: My goal is to become British champion and to finish in the top 16 on the PWA but also to have as much fun as I can windsurfing and travelling.

Jesper in action

Jesper Vesterstrøm DEN-111 enters the international NorthSails team with immediate effect.

The multiple Danish Formula and Slalom Champion as well as PWA rider on his change from Severne to NorthSails: “I’ve been windsurfing for 24 years and this is the first time on NorthSails ever in my windsurfing career. I’m therefore very excited to start the season on new Warp F2011. Top quality, nice design and great performance are some of the things I really like about the NorthSails products. It really looks like that a lot of R&D have been put into the development of all the different parts. Looking at the performance of the NorthSails in 2010 in both Formula and Slalom I don’t think there was much doubt in how the sails where performing. I was ready for a change, tried the sails and was immediately convinced.

“Personally I think these are the best sails I ever had. Rigging the sails is so easy, no worries about getting cams on, an easy downhaul and the back end system on the North booms is actually very smart. No need to untie knots anymore for the outhaul system. The performance on the water is great and I felt straight away how light the sails were in my hands. The rotation and handling in manouvers is just another dimension compared to what else I am used to.“
