Jem in Jeri

Sportif have announced JUST  2 PLACES LEFT on their Twin Centre Brazil Clinic to Jericoacoara and Icaraizinho with Jem Hall, 25 November – 04 December 2011. 10 day clinic to both locations or join 4 days in either location.

The clinics available will be 4 days in Icaraizinho, and 4 days in Jeri. In Between these their is a beach buggy coastal transfer from Icaraizinho to Jeri. You can choose one or both clinics and to travel out for the clinic dates of November 24 till December 04, or add days pre and post clinic. The Icarai clinic will prepare you well for the more challenging conditions of Jeri. Both places are, as Jem puts it “warm water deep joy with wind on tap”.

2011 costs are based on a twin share Casa Do John Apartment per person in Jeri and with B & B at Pousada Les Alizes Icaraizinho (includes flight and transfer), or the new SERROTE BREEZES in Jeri should Casa do John be full.

Ultimate Advanced Boost

For this clinic, I am running 2 x 4 day clinics at both Icarai and Jeri, Brazil. If you wish to enhance your stance, gybes, transitions, freestyle and all-round wavesailing skills at these great venues then please book early, as these will fill quickly.

The action

Stance – plane early, sail faster and fly upwind

Carve gybes – from improving to fully planing

Tacking – nailing this useful and fundamental skill

Freestyle – introduction and improvement in lots of new and useful tricks

Waves – get out, get in, wave selection and riding, composed airtime

Jem will be coaching through use of simulators, on-water coaching and video coaching. Please feel free to give me feedback on how it is going for YOU at any time so he can give you the best opportunity to develop.

Your windsurfing ability

To get the best out of this clinic participants will need to be sailing sub-100L boards in strong winds and open seas and be making some of your gybes competently!

Accommodation

A variety of fantastic accommodation with most people staying at the newly finished Casa do John (CDJ) and Serrote Breezes apartments in Jeri, one of which is Jem and friends very own apartment. The accommodation in Icarai is the on site Pousada Les Alizes for B & B.

Windsurfing kit

Boards: JP, Starboard and now lighter Pro package boards are there!

Sails: Neil Pryde sails – Pro package of X6 lighter masts and booms!

The windsurfing

Wind: very very reliable trades, cross to cross off from the right, Force 4 – 6.

Water state: Jeri – Small easy going waves and pretty damn flat at low tide. Other sailing areas up and downwind. Seriously warm water with a more punchy cross on break upwind and a side off break downwind at the dunes fro mid to high tide.

Water state: Icarai – easier going flat water inside and wave break out the back and upwind. Very flat and amazing lagoon at low tide. Generally easier sailing than Jeri with slightly less wind and flatter water so best suited as a warm up for Jeri or for more Intermediate sailors .

The combo of reliable strong wind, combo of water states and easy waves make these places ideal to up your level and improve your wavesailing, freestyle and looping! Progression and a huge amount of sailing time are as near as guaranteed.

The social

The social will revolve around us meeting up for some well-earned pre-dinner drinks and then having dinner together in one of the fine and varied local restaurants. Sundowners at the Club Dos Ventos are stunning. It is all pretty relaxed and we have some great chat and share a good laugh at our daily stunts.

The travel

The flight is with Air Portugal and takes approx 12 hours with a stop over in Lisbon.

Other activities

A veritable smorgasbord of other activities including horse riding, surfing, SUPing and some fantastic local excursions.

Jem has lined up a fantastic beach buggy ride North for the trip from Icari to Jeri as the tour moves destination. Over the past few years Jem’s clients have pulled off all manner of stunts from HIGHER jumps, to FASTER gybes, and board speed to STRONGER first loops and wave rides, and definitely moved from winners to wavesailors whilst on his reliably windy clinics in Brazil. There are a host of connections through Lisbon to Fortaleza making it an option for many international clients.

The clinic dates as a guide are November 25th to Dec. 5^th with a myriad of options. They are for Advanced Intermediates to Advanced sailors who are waterstarting, blasting in the straps solidly and making a few gybes and are hungry to: gybe better, tack, learn to jump and really fly, loop, wave ride and style up their sailing.
