Shaper Werner Gnigler has brought together a combination of characteristics from JP’s proven Formula, Slalom and Super Sport board ranges and the result is a high performance yet forgiving shape that delivers planing in very light-wind conditions.

This is expected to be really popular with intermediate and experienced sailors alike given the desire most have to get out as often as possible without having to deal with the technicality of a formula board or the requirement to sail fully-charged with huge rig sizes. Sure it’s not possible to buy wind to provide a regular fix of planing action but JP’s Super Light Wind should prove to be the next best thing!

Sonntag is a new fin manufacturer on the windsurfing market. Speedsailors Pete and Zara Davis met the owner and chief designer Joerg Sonntag and his wife Alexandra at a recent Belgian Speed week in Gruissan and were very impressed by their level of professionalism and understanding of fin technology. Zara was particularly interested in the ability Joerg has to customise the Sonntag fin flex and twist to accommodate the individual rider. This is unique in the fin world, as usually fins are developed by heavy powerful male team riders and not for lighter weight riders.

Basically, give Sonntag your height, weight and the boards you use and he recommends a size stiffness flex % etc of the fin – FANTASTIC! Also of great interest is the GPS 2 fin specifically designed for speedsailing. This fin has a very narrow width and negative center profile which should reduce drag at higher speeds. Zara says: “I can’t wait to try it at West Kirby.”

A few words from Joerg Sonntag: “We focus on high performance / competition fins in custom technology. We try to stay at size where we still can produce products adopted to specific customer needs. We use highest quality materials available on the market to create fins that work for you”

There are 3 fin ranges currently SL-S, SL-P and the GPS 2 with more coming in August.

If you want to know more please email Joerg directly on Sonntag-fins@freenet.de or visit the website at www.sonntag-fins.com

The 2010 X-Fire V2 slalom board range is a selection of no-compromise racing machines designed with one purpose in mind – winning. A strong development effort between the RRD team in Italy and Vice-Slalom World Champion / Speed World Champion Finian Maynard and his testing partner Tine Slabe has yielded clear improvements from the 09 / V1 generation in every size. More than 15 years of racing experience is directly incorporated into this new range keeping every aspect in mind in terms of creating a complete product. These boards will please even the most critical customer through their ease-of-use, stability, acceleration and blistering top-end speed. With all new designs for the 80, 102, 120 and 135, alongside improved versions of the already very successful 90 and 112, they will be the market leading brand for the upcoming season in the high-performance category. You must try and then you will believe from their performance on the water. RRD is once again ready to challenge for the top rankings.

Features
Each board has a different sizing template: Wide and short outline on the 135 and narrower and longer on the 90 and 80. Proportionally related scooprocker lines in order to create a perfect balanced racing machine and a new vee-to-flat release concept makes this new shape faster and in more control than the 09 generation. Real thoroughbred racing machines for the experts and great high-performance boards for the advanced-intermediate sailors.

One of the fastest, smoothest, easiest to gybe and most stable Slalom / Race boards out on the water! Check out this months test on the 112. More details on www.robertoriccidesigns.com and check out www.seaspritesports.com for your list of retailers.
