Graham Ezzy thinks you should be a better windsurfer.

Why?

Because you can!

Graham Ezzy in action on the AWT

With a mind full of new techniques to try and a body ready to fall a few times, you can improve tremendously in just hours.

When I went to college, I only had a few weeks a year to windsurf, but I was also trying to remain competitive on the world tour. I was forced to analyze my training and come up with a very focused analysis of windsurfing moves.

I’ve got all this windsurfing knowledge bottled up inside me on how to do moves. And the little secrets that allow you to plane out rather than sink.

I want to teach these secrets in my Baja camp this October. But I can’t wait till then; I need to share windsurfing secrets NOW. I feel antsy. Like when you know the answer to a question just asked to a crowd and you want to shout out the answer.

So, I will teach you something now. Send me a request and I’ll make an instructional video of the top requests and supplement it with written techniques and tricks. Why should you wait till October to be a better windsurfer? Start now.

Send an email BEFORE Friday the 20th to grahamezzy@gmail.com with your request. The request can be anything in windsurfing from tacking to push loops to carrying gear on the beach.

Here are some samples: tacks, pushloops, backloops, cutbacks, shove-its, flakas, tabletops, etc

(I don’t want to do general instruction on forward loops because the windsurfing world is so full of forward looping instruction. However, if you have a specific question on forward loops, feel free to ask it.)

Tanya Saleh reports from day four of the American Windsurfing Tour’s Cactus Cup, Punta San Carlos, Baja. Images by Clark Merritt…

We awoke to slightly larger swell again, but the fast increasing large high tides once again meant that the point waves did not exist. Therefore it was decided to hold round 3 at the beach break by the Solo Sports camp. Solid head high and larger sets were coming through so everyone geared up for the 12 minute, 2 waves to count heats.

The Youths were first to go out and they were clearly all fired up because they were all charging getting right under the lip with every hit. This was accompanied by several crashes so all together was rather entertaining to watch. Morgan took 1st place with Jordan in 2nd an Jay in 3rd.

In the men’s, Keith Teboul and Kevin Pritchard progressed from the first heat, Kevin McGilvray and Skylar Haywood moved on from the second heat, with Graham Ezzy and Morgan Noireaux joining them from the 3rd heat. The final sailors were Keith, Graham, Morgan, and Kevin P. The set waves were becoming a little less frequent and Graham and KP got the better longer waves therefore progressing to the super final. This 20 minute heat was truly fantastic to watch; experience vs. youth. Both of them were getting 4 turns and 2 or 3 aerials per wave. Graham scored on the larger wave front, and his additional goiters thrown into the mix gave him the edge to take 1st place.

In the amateurs, Solo Sports Staff member Joey Sanchez finally made it passed his first heat. Joey has only been windsurfing for a year and a half, is very competitive, and therefore was a little upset that he hadn’t made it yet. Today was his day and he got through to the final. Conversely Pete Dekay (editor of Windsport) has been lying flat on his back for 24 hours thanks to a random back injury. With no Dr’s within a couple of hundred miles he has been taking it easy and nursing it with plenty of Baja Fogs. Hopefully it will head as quickly as it came.

In the women’s we all struggled to find waves but I managed to grab the biggest and landing an aerial pretty much sealed the deal. Event organiser Sam took 2nd place with her increasingly aggresive turns, Miho in 3rd and Catherine in 4th.

Huge shout out to Solo Sports owner Kevin Trejo who some of you will know. He got bullied into joining the Master’s having not windsurfed for 10 years!! His first round resulted his highest score being a waterstart, but has redeemed himself since by winning the next 2 rounds!

K4 Fins team rider Graham Ezzy sailed Jaws for the first time using K4 fins. Here is how it all happened:

“Last week on Maui the swell was lining up to be massive enough for Jaws to break. I was excited for the big waves but also a bit worried because the only fins I had were my new sets of K4 plastic fins. And while I loved the fins in smaller waves, I wasn’t sure whether they would be too flexible for the big bottom turns at Jaws. Without too much thought, I threw in a pair of 15″ back fins and 7″ front fins on my quad board. I was the first windsurfer to ride a quad board at Jaws back in 2009, and last week I think I was the first windsurfer to ride plastic fins there. The best part was that the fins worked amazingly. I was able to push really hard in the bottom turns without anything close to a spinout. And I was even able to throw a big air. It was the first time K4 fins were used at Jaws but it most definitely won’t be the last!”

Keep up with Graham at www.ezzyblog.com/graham and K4 fins at www.k4fins.com. K4 fins are available at your local shop, front quads and tris £22.95 and rears £44.95
