Don't Let Go, hitting screens soon!

The next two videos that caught our eyes came out at the end of the week, firstly it’s amazing to see Zara Davis on the BBC here and if you fancy something totally different check out Brawzi and Levi shredding in Maui here. 

Coming up the Christmas there has of course been a lot of penny saving present ideas and competitions around too: Lagoon Watersports in Hove have some great voucher offers, Tech Trial are selling the Drift Camera at an insanely low price, the Baker Academy are running a competition to win 8 hours of coaching, Juice Boardsports have vouchers with 10% extra free, Tushingham are running a competition to win a Starboard fin bag,  Ocean Elements are running some early bookers deals for 2013, as are Club Vass (with holidays to both Vassilki and Dahab centres)! Now that’s a whole lot of offers!

Finally in this weeks news, our sister site Boardseeker are proud to announce that the shiny new site is now up and running, so if you haven’t checked it out already head on over there now for more of an international windsurfing fix.

The new Boardseeker site, what do you think?

“Well you may have noticed we are looking a little different here at Boardseeker.com. Exciting stuff, we know. The question still remains, why the change and what is in it for you? Well friends of international windsurfing news, read on.

First and foremost is the look of the website, designed to be more visually appealing and user friendly it allows you to scroll around at ease whether you are on your desktop computer, tablet or other smart modern day device. Yes, Boardseeker.com can go with you like it has never gone with you before.

What is next?

Well the video player, this was recently revamped. It looks now totally different, loads a lot faster, has a slo-mo button and a 3-second rewind button, which will make watching a specific move over and over again a lot easier. You can even freeze frame and grab a screen shot at the click of a button. It also has a built-in Share-button, which is great to keep the entire online world up to date.

Oh my!

Yes, indeed. Well it doesn’t stop there, that new layout we mentioned also allows you to have more control over the page itself and priority is given to the most important content on the home page. If you are a computer, tablet or smart phone user then the world is yours.

And the content…

The main highlights you will notice is a much bigger podcast player, for now this sits at the bottom of the site so keep scrolling down to check the latest video additions from our very own producer, Alf. Whilst on the subject of video players, we have almost doubled the size of our daily videos which you will find in our News Bulletin section, gone are the days of the magnifying glass. There is plenty more tweaking in the pipeline but in general the content will stay fairly similar with plenty of cool new weekly features and enough daily news that will wet the appetite of even the most hungry. This does make us a little hungrier, we want you to fire in your clips and news so that we can let the world know about it, so be sure to do so.

Just one News Bulletin update a day…

Well yes and no. Yes because the news will physically appear as one post a day, a round up of all the latest happenings around the globe but this will consist of a healthy update with the potential addition of one or two items to that post later in the afternoon, this allows us to bring you more content as it happens. Be sure to keep checking back to see it first.

What now?

Well we want to hear from you, this is one of the final changes you will see, our whole website has been updated to the 21st century, you can literally share a single news story, a video or a whole feature across your facebook/twitter pages. On top of that you can rate and leave your comments about news and features at the bottom of the page.

Boardseeker Podcast July '12

Results came through this week from various events, including the BSA event at Worthing, we have a full report here from Ant Baker right here which includes some great freestyle shots from Mike Archer. Lets hope the freestyle and Stena Line racing event at Herne Bay this weekend is a little more lucky with the wind!

This week there has been a fair few videos in the mix, our favourites being this Go Pro edit from 14 year old french windsurfer Alexandre Grand-Guillot and of course the latest video from Jason Polakow at Jaws.

Boards also introduced the new ‘Deals of the Week’ this week, which will feature all the latest offers from the windsurfing industry. Check out this weeks deals!

Europe’s leading action sports media owner, Factory Media, has today announced the acquisition of popular windsurfing website, Boardseeker.com. The website will join BOARDS Magazine, its existing windsurfing title, in a broad portfolio of digital and magazine brands serving over four million action sports fans monthly in Europe.

Factory Media currently publishes 16 digital and 13 consumer magazine brands in six languages across the snow, mountain bike, surf, BMX, windsurfing, skateboard and motocross markets. The new deal will add a new layer of content to the Factory Media digital network, a vast action sports resource headlined by aggregate portal MPORA.com, which majors in video content, picture sharing and community functionality.

“Boardseeker.com represents what is most exciting about action sports communities online – their thirst for knowledge, their brand loyalty and their insatiable appetite for product information,” said Darryl Newton, managing director of Factory Media. “Factory Media is excited to be adding such a respected title to our portfolio. We can already see the value it will add to brands seeking to engage with action sports fans.”

For the past eight years, Boardseeker.com has been instrumental in the growth of the online windsurfing community. The site boasts one of the world’s largest windsurfing subscriber bases and has developed a solid reputation for providing high quality, cutting-edge web content and product information. Factory Media’s wealth of online experience and resource will now be put to use in helping Boardseeker.com expand its user base and diversify its content and equipment testing programs within the sport of windsurfing.

Boardseeker.com will continue to operate independently within the Factory Media group, with founder and former managing director Adrian Jones remaining at the helm.
