Today the freestyle side of the competition kick off, more on this to come, but first here’s an update from Skye:

John Skye on Fuerte

“The slalom has finished and I ended up 40th. If you had asked me before the event if I would be happy with 40th, the answer would have been no. But having experienced the event and understood the level I can go home reasonably happy. Having finished 5th in 4 eliminations, often by a few metres, I don’t think it would take much to move up a few places, but above that the level is crazy. That is it for this year, but next year I will come back a little more prepared. Top 30 is next years goal, which will mean making at least one losers final! Next stop Tenerife and back to some wave sailing again.”

John Skye is over in Fuerteventura taking part in his first PWA slalom event, as the event goes on he is getting better and better, click through for updates from throughout the week from Skye.

Skye is currently in 43rd position, steadily moving up the fleet as the racing continues.

Also competing in Fuerte is a rider slightly more used to racing, and taking podium finishes, Ross Williams. Williams has already taken an 8th, 11th, 9th, 10th and a 4th, putting him in 9th position going into the final day of racing.  Consistency is always key in PWA racing and we know Williams will continue to perform.

“Today was windier, more choppy and I definitely felt more at home. Made it through another round today in Elimination 6 and even put up a brief fight for 4th in the quarter final. Both the other eliminations ended in 5th after some good fighting. Its starting to come together, but a bit late really. Tomorrow is the last day. I will try my hardest, but that losers final just seems one step too far!”
