COQUET CLUB MEMBERS CELEBRATE LOTTERY GRANT

Members of Coquet Windsurfing Club of Amble, Northumberland are celebrating today after receiving a grant of £5000 From the National Lottery’s Awards for All Programme, and £500 from Alnwick & District Sports Council.

The newly formed club that is affiliated to Coquet Sailing Club aims to provide affordable windsurfing opportunities for all members of the local community irrelevant of age, gender, ability, ethnicity or socio-economic status.

The grant has allowed us to purchase the latest windsurfing equipment, for use by our members as well as pay for much needed Volunteer Coach Development.

As well as offering social windsurfing the club will also enable members to participate at whichever level their ability demands.

Club spokesperson Paul Hewitt said: ” We are thrilled to get this award today. For a group like ours this is a large sum of money – and it will allow us to help many local people.”

“We’ve worked very hard to develop the club, now we’ve got the money its time for the real hard work to start.”
