Background Info
Virtual Training was developed by Windsurf World Cupper, sport scientist and ‘Motion Manager’ Christoph Zarfl. In his scientific studies, he designed this program to help you to improve your ability to visualise your favourite moves, thus accelerating the learning process of windsurfing. The result of numerous investigations shows that cognitive training (video training, visualising, etc) accelerates the learning process almost as well as “real training” = i.e; performing the move! So especially windsurfers who don´t have the chance to surf every day will profit from this worldwide first…

Instructions

1_Moves:

Select the move you want to learn!

2_Side:
Choose if you want to learn the move with the left or right foot forward / with the wind from the left or right side (ie; port or starboard).

3_VideoTrainer:
Watch the trainer-movie with windsurf stars like Finian Maynard, Tonky Frans, Karin Jaggi & John Skye to discover the most important elements and trainig exercises of your favourite move.

4_VideotrainerTop:
By selecting the buttons on the top of the video screen you can switch between mastmount camera and camera view from the side in normal or slow motion (speed).

5_Sequence:
Build a sequence by selecting the pics on this screen to improve your ability to visualise the basic elements of the move you selected.

6_InteractiveVideo:
To improve your ability to visualise the most important elements of the movement, Chris Zarfl developed Interactive Videos. An Interactive Video is a movie that doesn´t show all movement elements (for example: some body parts are hidden by a colour bar). So you have to visualise all hidden elements and push the “space” bar when the surfer performs the asked element (before you start the several Interactive Videos you are asked to push “space” when the surfer performs one of the basic movement elements).

7_InteractiveVideoPopUp
If you need some help or can´t remember how to perform a movement element you just choose the Trainer Movie, Mastmount Camera, or Camera from the side (normal or slow speed) by clicking the buttons above the video screen.

8_Interactive3D
After you passed all Interactive Videos for the most important elements of the movement you are asked to run through Interactive 3D Animations. Here just the surfer will be shown – so you will have to visualise the movements of your gear!

9_VideoFade
In this last section the Video screen will fade to black before the surfer starts with the first movement element. You will be asked to visualise the whole movement (body and gear) and push “space” when the surfer behind the black screen performs the asked element.

10_Evaluation
At the end your personal Virtual Trainer will give you a feedback about your ability to visualise the most important movement elements and whether you are good enough to perform the move on the water or to have some more Virtual Training sessions…
