PAGHAM CAR PARK CLOSED
Attention all south coast windsurfers! The Pagham Harbour car park has been
closed, and will remain so for the foreseeable future, due to a bizarre ‘council
tax’ dispute between the local and county authorities. Parking fees were introduced
at the car park last year to help pay for upkeep of the access road, but now
it is a ‘profit making venture’ it is liable for taxes like any other business,
and allegedly these taxes are more than the car park was making anyway. So the
car park will remain shut while the dispute is sorted out, which will probably
take quite some time.
Unfortunately there isn’t anywhere else legal to park on the entire beach estate,
which does rather put the kybosh on using it as a windsurfing venue.
Hopefully it will be sorted out in time for the autumn gales and waves!
when will the car park be reopened please My grandchildren would like to take me down there as i have explained how good it was when i was small, but we cannot go because i cannot walk that distance
A crock of crap really, It wouldn't be a 'profit making venture' if these two 'authorities' SPENT the money made on acually repairing the road, putting rubbish/dog mess bins in place and paying people to help maintain the area!!!!!
