Hi Gollito, congratulations to your 4th World Title. How you feel after receiving your fourth PWA world champion trophy yesterday?

I feel really happy to win the title again this year. Winning already after 3 events was maybe the ‘’clearest“ victory of all 4. So I’m really happy with my performance. There has been no person with 4 freestyle world titles before me and I am happy for that.

Lets go back a little. Did the ‘just’ 3rd place in Austria maybe give you an extra boost to win all the rest of the events?

Austria was very different. Competing already at 5 in the morning was difficult for me. Maybe I was not going for the event win in Austria and was already happy with being inside the top 4 and so I lost quickly against Steven because the level is so close. I then left trained hard and saw each contest as a chance to proof to bet the best.

How did you train after the Austria Event?

I went shortly to Egypt for the photo shooting. We got great wind and I could train nicely. Back at home I found not much wind so I actually did not train much. I went some days before the lanzarote contest and could learn quickly enough for the contest a new move called ‘matador’. This move helped me to win the Lanzarote contest. This victory gave me the power for the rest of the season.

What were your biggest and most scoring moves in 2010?

My biggest move maybe was the high shaka. It helped me in Fuerte to gain the most points. It’s important nowadays to go high, powerful and planing.

Which riders scared you the most in the run for your title?

Most scary of course were Kiri, Steven, Taty and Tonky. But the entire fleet are sailing great. So there is never heats were you can take it fully easy.

What sort of equipment are you mostly using in your heats?

I used mostly the 100 and 90L boards. In Sylt last week I was going even on the 110L boards to get the right speed to do my moves. With the sails I used everything between my 5.4 Duke and 4.0 Ice.

I hear you have a new girlfriend will you now make some holidays or you go straight into training for 2011?

No holidays for me… I’m going straight to Brazil to do a little trip with Kauli. We will film and I am looking forward to seeing his new centre.

How you will spend your winter time?

Most of the time I will stay back at home to train for the New Year. Let’s see which events we will get next year. I hope we will start a little earlier this time. Also I will spend some time to film on our new movie ‘Second Life’. I hope I can top my Four Dimensions section.

Is it important for you to be in a bigger movie?

Yes absolutely. It is important form me to be in there. I train a lot all year to improve my level. I want to show that as well on movies. There is a lot of low quality you tube clips out there. But to be on a high budget movie is something really special.

How you guess the freestyle will develop during the winter?

I think there will come out some new moves. I have some in mind which I think are super possible.

Any new guys coming up to the top?

Yes there are some Brazilian guys getting better and better there is also some guys, which sail amazingly but still need to learn how to compete to do really good results.

Last question: After your good friend Ricardo Campello joined the freestyle in Sylt, do you think he should start competing again in this discipline?

Yes it would be great if he comes back again into the freestyle. I think he is still able to do good but would need to spent a little time on his freestyle board back at his windsurfing centre in El Yaque.
