Fuerte Wave Classic

The Fuerte Wave Classic 2010 has come to an end. Some of the best windsurfers in the world came to enjoy the north shore of Fuerteventura. Overall they sailed in five different spots – Punta Blanca, La Caleta, La Entubadera, Bristol and El Cotillo – with conditions from jumping to pure down-the-line riding. Thanks to Fuerteventura’s weather conditions, their sponsors and riders, FWC were able to accomplish their event objectives; have a result, sail in different conditions, launch free sessions to show what this sport is all about, have fun in the water, pull impressive moves and get radical images for both the riders and the media. During the official heats each team could choose who was going to go into the water and in which order, seeing for the first time in windsurfing how team strategies were put into place depending on wind and wave conditions – and maybe which other rider was in each heat?

On the water FWC saw jumps, incredible aerials, radical riding, and much more – and they’ll be putting online several videos of the event for you to enjoy. Obviously safety was paramount and was ensured by a jet-ski courtesy of RedBull, a rescue team and an ambulance on standby during the event. Out of the water there was a great atmosphere between all the riders. This year once again FWC counted on the help of Clean Ocean Project to organise a beach cleaning where they collected 20 cubic meters of rubbish.

Fuerte Wave Classic 2010 winning team:

• Iballa Moreno

• Jules Denel

• Alex Mussolini

• Patrick Vigouroux

• Albert Mandrillo

They were by far the best on the water during the two rounds. Alex was ripping, as usual, while Iballa amazed everyone by winning her last heat! Jules was a good surprise and his youthful style was really looking good on the water. Patrick and Albert landed very nice aerials too during the event and the efforts of everyone paid off!

The FWC Team we would like to thank their sponsors for making the event possible, and are looking forward to starting work on FWC11.
