Cribby sets watersports world record

Windsurfing ace Guy Cribb has set his first world record after tackling no fewer than 21 water sports in one day.
Cribb, 13 times UK windsurfing champion, took to the waters off Bournemouth and Poole – the self-styled ‘Coast with the Most’ – at 6am yesterday, finally coming ashore after a gruelling 11 hours.
Dorset’s twin resorts claim to offer the widest range of water sports in Europe, and set Cribb the challenge of proving the point and staking his claim to a world record.
“We chose the longest day of the year to cram in as many activities as we could,” said Cribb.
“The weather could not have been better, small surf in the morning and perfect winds in the afternoon with non-stop sunshine. I could happily have continued all night!”
Cribb completed 21 different watersports: body boarding, stand-up paddleboarding, surfing, snorkelling, sea kayaking, skim boarding, swimming, yacht chartering, power boating, jetskiing, RIB-riding, ringo-ing, wake surfing, kitesurfing, wind surfing, pedaloes, electronic boating, dinghy sailing, Sunseeker yachting, catamaran sailing, wake boarding.
Bournemouth Tourism’s marketing manager Jon Weaver said: “Today has been a massive achievement for Guy and for us. He’s proved himself to be a world-beater, and we have demonstrated the diversity of Bournemouth and Poole’s watersports opportunities. Everyone’s a winner.”
