“It has been a little mission of mine over the last few years to win at the Cornwall BWA amateur event. I had taken part twice before and both times was pushed into second place: first by Adam Sims and then Alfie Hart.

“I figured this year I had an ok chance as Alfie and Adam had both graduated to the pros… that was until I noticed that Mike Wand-Tetley was a very solid rider, getting aerials all over the place…

“Once the wind kicked in on on Saturday, we were presented with decent conditions for the competition (helped along by Jude) – squally 4.7, cross-off with some chest to shoulder-high sets.

“I sailed against Mike in every single heat and to be honest he probably would have beaten me in the final. Luckily, I managed to land a pretty clean backloop which sealed the deal!

“As always, the event was excellent – every possible minute of compete-able conditions were used in everything from bolt-onshore Marazion mush to scary mast high walls, breaking top to bottom on the sandbar at the Bluff.

“Thanks a lot to all the BWA guys for all the hard work!”
