FORMULA WINDSURFING EURO CUP, RHODES - FINAL DAY

Ross Williams wins in front of Andrea Cucchi and Devon Boulon

On the final day of the Formula Windsurfing Grand Prix Rhodes another
three races were sailed to achieve the third discard. The wind was a
little bit stronger then yesterday, blowing side shore with 12 to 16
knots. Two races were scheduled for the morning and a final one after the
lunch break to complete 11 races.

In the first race Arnon Dagan (ISR-1, Fanatic, Neil Pryde) from Israel was
able to dominate in front of Devon Boulon (ISV-1, F2, Windwing) from the
Virgin Islands and Andrea Cucchi (ITA-1, Starboard, Neil Pryde) from
Italy. The second race brought another victory for Devon Boulon. Arnon
Dagan managed to defend the second place against Andrea Cucchi.

Before the final race the situation couldn’t be more exciting: Due to
Ross’ weak performance yesterday and in the first two races tody (6th and
7th place) he had lost huge parts of his lead from the first day. Now
three guys were close to each other willing to grab the triumph at the
Formula Windsurfing Grand Prix Rhodes: Ross with 20,1 points, Andrea with
21,7 points and Devon with 22,4 points.

But in the final race Ross Williams proved that he deserved the victory at
the event. The British Hotshot took another bullet in front of “Danish
Dynamite” Jesper Vesterstrom (DEN-111, Starboard,Neil Pryde) and Jamie
Lever (GBR-5, Starboard, Windwing) from Great Britain. Arnon Dagan and
Devon Boulon had a hard fight until the finish with the better outcome for
the Israel Champion. This prevented Devon from passing Andrea in the event
ranking and made Arnon pass Jamie Lever.

After three exciting days with eleven races and three discards, finally
Ross Williams was able to take the triumph at the Formula Windsurfing
Grand Prix Rhodes with 4 race victories and a total of 14,8 points. The
second place went to Andrea Cucchi who scored one victory and 21,7 points.
Close behind follows Devon Boulon who has two race victories and 22,4
points. Due to his great performance on the second and the last day Arnon
Dagan was able to win the fourth place with 25,4 points in front of Jamie
Lever with 26,4 points. The best Master of the event is Marco Begalli
(ITA-415, Starboard, Neil Pryde) from Italy with a 7th place and 37
points. The best Youth is Vincent Langer (GER-122, Fanatic, Simmer) on the
12th place with 85 points.

The Formula Windsurfing Grand Prix Rhodes was a great success. The quality
of the fleet and the competition was amazing. The outcome was open until
the end. Rhodes provides perfect conditions for Formula Windsurfing with
reliable constant sideshore wind and perfect weather. The Forum Beach
Hotel in Ialisos Beach is the perfect base for international events and
has served as a great host.
