The 2005 Catalunya Costa Brava PWA Super X World Cup – Summary Day 2: Day 2 of the Costa Brava Super X contest followed a pattern very similar to yesterday. Light winds in the morning picked up early in the afternoon. Again, the full fleet geared up, ready for action. While the race director and his crew set out the course for the onshore wind direction, the riders gave an impressive performance considering the marginal conditions. Forwards and spocks were the name of the game, with Douglas ‘Cheo’ Diaz (V-34, Fanatic/ North) being the man of the match pulling off the most moves of the pack.
But like yesterday, the wind didn’t push on and eased off again instead,
sending the sailors back to the beach waiting for onditions to improve. In the course of the afternoon the winds kept up the suspense, going up and down, but unfortunately it was never strong enough to start the first heat.
Before going on the water, the fleet spent the morning teaching a group of Spanish children the basics of the sport at Club Mistral, handing out all sorts of windsurfing goodies as souvenirs for a great day.
As the local winds on the Costa Brava seem to defy all forecasts, the 2005 Catalunya Costa Brava PWA Super X World Cup moves into day three with an open mind, ready for action as soon as conditions allow it. So stay tuned to www.pwaworldtour.com for tomorrow’s latest news and pictures.
