Pozo is coming! Just over one more week until the world wave tour kicks off with a bang and it’s awesome to see the Brits (and adopted Brits!) are representing.
Taking a look at the entry list it is interesting to see total Spanish domination in the top 32, but also great that our small isle has got 7 riders in there too!
So, who’s your pick to take the spot of top Brit in Pozo?
Loading ...For those who missed Swift’s push forward here it is again, at 30 seconds…it looks like the push forward could be THE move to pull in Pozo, those that have them dialled are sure to have a huge advantage.
Another exciting Pozo development is the fresh faces in the women’s fleet. First of all freestyle world champion, slalom siren and all-round super woman Sarah-Quita Offringa is stepping up to compete in the waves too! More about that very soon on our sister site Boardseeker.
Justyna Sniady will be back, no doubt full force on the tour and she will be joined by fellow BWA competitor Sophia Joy Gilje. It’s awesome to see the girls from the BWA stepping up to the PWA!
Boards caught up with Sophia to find out more about her winter and Pozo prep….
After BWA 2012 I couldn’t windsurf for a while because of breaking my hand so I went snowboarding until January and then in mid January I headed to Brandon Bay, Ireland for a month. Then April to Maui for 3 months, except I wasn’t lucky with conditions, so I did an intense course to become yoga instructor whilst I was out there!

This year I am planning on doing Pozo, Tenerife, Sylt, Brittany comp (France), Tiree and Cornwall. I feel I could be more prepared since I haven’t had that much time training and on the water but I am taking it as learning ground for future.
My aims are to do the best I can, learn from competing in a PWA and progress for future. I am super excited at discovering Pozo, which is such a core and hardcore place in the windsurf world. I’m ready to get the 3.0 out!
Never sailed yet with such a small sail. Wohooo.
I am taking my Fanatic 75l and hopefully I will get a smaller one as well. Plus sails I will have 3.0, my 3.7 and 4.2 although I don’t think I’ll need the last one!
Good luck to all the British and adopted riders for the PWA Pozo! Follow all the latest coverage from the event on Boardseeker.com
