With the nights drawing in and the winter breezes blowing we cannot escape the fact christmas is just around the corner. Our top tip? Take advantage of the holiday period by sneaking a couple of these must winter must haves onto your christmas list.
This week it’s time to go hard, hardware that is, as Boards brings you a collections of all the necessary items for any windsurfers tool box, garage or vehicle. In previous Wish Lists we’ve given you all sorts of reasons why items would make great stocking fillers for any windsurfers; this week it’s a bit more simple – these are the ultimate boys (and girls!) windsurfing toys…
K4 fins (various £) are an incredible range of fins developed British windsurfer Steve Thorp, with input from his highly talented team of riders. These bright yellow fins are the choice of top riders including UK freestyle champion Andy Chambers, UK wave champion Jamie Hancock and international star Graham Ezzy; with a range that includes various wave and speed fins, alongside a great freestyle offering too, whatever windsurfing set up you have a new K4 will help take it to the next level.
Another way of upgrading the feel of your set up is to invest in a new extension, especially the North Uni.XT Shox extensions (various £). North have incorporated an even better rigging system into their new version of the Shox extensions, as well as improving the state of the art suspension system used within every extension. The feeling when sailing is just incredible, why not have a go yourself?
The Maui Hookup (£19.99) is one of the best tools around for aiding that tricky task of getting on the last bit of downhaul. There’s a lot of tools about for this particular job, however the Maui Hookup won’t jam, slip or chew up your downhaul rope – sounds good to us!
The Genie GT 31 (£119.99) is an absolute must have for any budding or dedicated speed sailor. You no longer need to head to a specific speed competition to record the fast times, just strap on your Genie GT 31, find the flattest, windiest spot you can and go for broke! Then upload your times and compare with the world’s best. The Genie GT 31 is designed for windsurfers, very easy to use and exceptionally accurate too!
Radz mast bases are a great gift too; we’re sure many of us don’t, but having a spare UJ around is always useful. Coming in rubber, tendon or knuckle these Radz bases are probably the most competitively priced on the market.
Another two items that are very worthwhile, and can save a day of windsurfing are a spare up haul and harness lines. Again, these are simple must have for any windsurfer and we love the lines and up hauls on offer from ION.
